Media Advisory: Our Fallen Comrade Returns Home

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 28, 2011) - Our fallen comrade, Master Corporal Francis Roy, of the Canadian Special Operations Regiment, based at CFB Petawawa, Ontario, serving in Afghanistan as a member of the Special Operations Task Force, will return home to Canada tomorrow.

Where:8 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Ontario.
When:Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 2 p.m.
What:At the request of the family, media will not be permitted on the tarmac.

Present to pay their respects will be His Excellency The Governor General of Canada, The Right Honourable David Johnston, the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, General Walt Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff and other dignitaries.

Master Corporal Roy was found dead from non-combat related wounds at approximately 6 a.m. local Kandahar time on June 25, 2011, at a coalition forward operating base in Kandahar City.
