Attention: Print & electronic media - Environmental Reporters, Assignment Editors, Producers, City Editors and Reporters

Join Earth Day Canada, Parc Downsview Park Inc. and Toronto and Region Conservation at Downsview Park's 9th annual EARTH DAY Tree Planting

What: Downsview Park, Canada's first national urban park in the
Greater Toronto Area, celebrates Earth Day, now in its 37th
year. On Sunday, April 22, the entire community is invited to
help plant 3,000 native trees in Downsview Park's landmark
Canada Forest. The event, hosted by meteorologist Michael
Kuss, is free and open to the public. Entertainment, includes
wildlife presentations, guided nature walks, bird feeder
crafts, goods exchange and environmental exhibits, a musical
performance by Em Gryner and a variety of children's
activities.

Why: Earth Day provides a unique opportunity to focus public
attention and commitment to local environmental initiatives.
Tree planting benefits both the environment and the health of
the community. One large tree provides the daily oxygen
requirement of four people and 500 mature trees can absorb the
carbon dioxide produced by a car driven 20,000 Km a year. Each
year, more than six million Canadians plant trees and gardens,
organize workshops, nature walks, and launch proactive
environmental programs to celebrate International Earth Day
- the largest environmental event in the world.

When: Sunday, April 22, 12 noon - 4 p.m.

Where: Downsview Park, located at the SE corner of Keele and Sheppard
Aves.

Who: Jed Goldberg, President of Earth Day Canada, is available for
interviews on Earth Day activities and environmental issues.

Michael Kuss, Meteorologist and MC of the Earth Day 2007 Event

Em Gryner, singer/songwriter, will entertain with a live
performance
