Media Advisory: Paul Moist and Maude Barlow to host public meeting on CETA this Thursday in London

LONDON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 29, 2011) - The Canadian Union of Public Employees and the Council of Canadians are holding a town hall meeting on Thursday, December 1 in London to raise awareness about a new trade deal that threatens vital public services like water, transit, energy and health care. CUPE National President Paul Moist, Council of Canadians National Chairperson Maude Barlow, and Dr. Linda Wayne, local small business owner and university teacher will speak at the event. They will be joined by London's town crier, poet laureate, and local musicians.

Canada and the European Union are negotiating a new Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) which they hope to sign early in 2012. CUPE and the Council of Canadians oppose the deal because of the impact it will have on public services and the environment.
