MEDIA ADVISORY/PHOTO OP: 19th Annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure Prepares for Sea of Pink and Thousands of Supporters

Calgarians will flood Southcentre in a sea of pink to become a symbol of hope for a future without breast cancer

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 24, 2010) -

WHY: The 19th annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada's largest single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to funding breast cancer research, education and awareness. In 2009, more than eight thousand Calgarians ran or walked the 1k or 5k routes, raising over $1.56 million, but more funding for research is still needed. On average, 100 Canadian women will die of breast cancer every week in 2010. The Run brings together families, friends, colleagues, and neighbours to honour individuals who have been affected by breast cancer.

New this year- a themed "Survivors tent" for all survivors to partake in complementary foot massages and other surprises; in attendance will be our Run mascot "HOPE" – a "pinked-up" gorilla.
