Media Advisory and Photo Opportunity: Mayor David Miller Helps Plant Tulips at University of Toronto King's College Circle, Convocation Hall

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 30, 2006) -

What: Mayor David Miller will help plant tulips at the University
of Toronto on October 31, 11:00 a.m. This is part of a public
and private partnership involving the City of Toronto,
University of Toronto, and Royal LePage Real Estate Services,
to beautify our city and make it even more colourful this
coming spring.

Tulips are being planted down St. George Street and at
Convocation Hall and in other public gardens in Toronto.

The tulips have been donated by the 55 St. Clair Street Ave. W.
branch of Royal LePage Real Estate Services Ltd. These tulips
are a fundraising campaign for the company's charitable
foundation to support local women's shelters and violence-
prevention programs. When the flowers bloom this spring they
will be a symbol of hope and represent a fresh start for women
rebuilding their lives after leaving an abusive relationship.

When: Tuesday, October 31, 2006

Where: University of Toronto, King's College Circle, South Corner
across from Convocation Hall

About the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation

The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is dedicated to creating safer homes and safer communities. Many Royal LePage Realtors promote the tulip campaign and donate a portion of their commission each time a property is sold. With every transaction, they are helping people live safer more hopeful lives.

The foundation works on two levels:

- Locally: Royal LePage Shelter Foundation funds 150 women's shelters that every year provide immediate assistance to 30,000 women and children fleeing domestic abuse.

- Nationally: Royal LePage Shelter Foundation funds provincial violence prevention programs through the Canadian Women's Foundation and a school-based program called the Fourth R, for preventing dating violence, substance abuse, and risky sexual practices.
