Media Advisory: Pie Eating Contest at Giant Tiger Bells Corners (Ottawa) Attracts Local Celebrities!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 16, 2012) - All it took was a tweet! Giant Tiger Store Manager Jason Fielding was using Twitter to spread the buzz about a pie promotion he was going to conduct in his community. Within a few hours, it evolved into a pie tasting and eating contest to be attended by several local celebrities and city officials. Who knew? Jason is very excited as he plans an elaborate event for this coming Saturday at his store.

Members of the community are invited to bring in their pies for the Pie Tasting event! Home baked pie donations will be accepted at the store from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm.

WHAT: Pie Tasting Contest and Pie Eating Contest
WHEN: Saturday, May 19, 2012
1:45 pm: Pie Tasting Contest. Home baked pies will be provided by customers.
2:00 pm: Pie Eating Contest. Contestants will include local celebrities and officials such as: Kurt Stoodley from CTV Morning Live; Katherine Dines from Majic 100; Alex Lewis from Bells Corners BIA; Spencer Warren, Founder of various children's charities in Ottawa and Mike Niebudek, Children's Wish Foundation Board Member.
Celebrity contestants will have 5 minutes to eat 5 single serving pies! The participant who finishes first (or eats the most within the 5 minute timeframe) will be deemed the winner and crowned "(Mr or Ms) Giant Tiger Pie 2012".
The Pie Eating Contest will be judged by CTV's Ambassador to the community, Max Keeping who will be joined by a city official. Stuntman Stu from Majic 100 will be there to emcee the event.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: Charity BBQ from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. All proceeds will be donated to the Children's Wish Foundation.
Pie Fundraiser for the Children's Wish Foundation. In exchange for a minimum donation of $5, you will receive a Valley Baker Homestyle Pie.
The Pop Shop All-Stars will be performing from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. They are Ottawa's own foot-stompin', show-stoppin' performance troupe. They range in age from 6-18 and sing and dance their way through the top of the pop charts from the 60's to today.
