Media Advisory: PIPSC President Visiting Montreal and St-Hubert November 14 and 15

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 13, 2006) - Michèle Demers, head of the 50,000-member Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada, will be in Montreal and in St-Hubert on November 14 and 15 to conduct meetings with the regional membership and visit their worksites.

The Professional Institute is the largest multi-profession union in Canada with a membership of 50,000. It represents scientists and professionals across the country including Canada Revenue Agency auditors, computer systems specialists, procurement specialists, research scientists, meteorologists, veterinarians and nurses. In Quebec, PIPSC represents 5,800 members employed by the federal government.

During her visit, Michèle Demers will meet with the members of the Institute who work for the Canadian Space Agency and the Montreal Garrison at Longue-Pointe. Among the topics to be discussed will be science in government, federal budget cutbacks and public service renewal.
