Media Advisory: Plane Pull 5 set for Saturday, Sept. 11

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 9, 2010) - The Sens Foundation announced today that the Ottawa International Airport will host Plane Pull 5 on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Ottawa Airport. The Plane Pull raises funds for charitable initiatives in Ottawa and Gatineau, and is a key fundraiser for Project Clear Skies, the airport authority's charitable giving program. Funds raised in the 2010 edition of the event will be shared equally between Project Clear Skies and the Sens Foundation.

The event features teams of 25 people that pull a FedEx A300 aircraft a total of 12 feet. The team that pulls the aircraft the fastest will be crowned Plane Pull 5 champion. The 2009 event was a huge success, with 34 teams competing for top prize, while raising close to $45,000.

Senators Sports & Entertainment has entered a team of 25 staff members, led by Senators' forward Ryan Shannon. Team Sens is scheduled to pull at 11:15 a.m. Spartacat, the Senators ambassador of fun, will also be on hand to cheer them on.

Besides the pull itself, there will be exhibits and entertainment, including the Hydro Ottawa environment display, Ottawa Fire Services Fire Prevention Safety House, Canada Border Services Agency Canine Unit, Vintage Wings of Canada aircraft, a balloon artist, a craft table, Sens Street Tour Inflatable play structures (weather permitting), face painting, an OMCIAA heavy equipment display, a FedEx pedal plane and Ottawa Cruise Night classic cars.
