Dr. Babcock is also available to comment on the ongoing conflict in the DR Congo, rebels groups, sexual violence, child soldiers, rule of law, mining, and anti-conflict minerals legislation.

While in the DRC, Dr. Babcock conducted interviews with international and local non-governmental organizations, MONUSCO, church leaders, journalists, former child soldiers and victims of sexual violence. She was in Goma, Bukavu and Kalonge village in eastern Congo.

Congo Election Context

On November 28, the DR Congo will hold presidential and parliamentary elections. Substantiated instances of fraud in the voter registration process and recent violent attacks against opposition rallies have raised concerns that the elections will culminate in more violence, and perhaps even all-out war.
