TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 26, 2014) - A Toronto holiday tradition begins on Friday, November 28 with the opening of the SHOP.CA Toronto Christmas Market presented by American Express. Selected as one of the 10 best holiday markets by Fodor's Travel, the Market will spread the romance and magic of the holiday season for a fifth consecutive year. Members of the media and general public are invited to attend the official lighting ceremony of the Market's 52-foot white spruce tree on Friday, November 28 at 6 p.m. to mark the opening of the SHOP.CA Toronto Christmas Market presented by American Express. Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne will be present to help officially open the 21-day festival at the Distillery Historic District.

Following the tree lighting ceremony, a free concert will take place featuring Doug Leahy and the Next Generation Leahy. Building on over six years of Leahy musicianship, Doug Leahy, his wife Jennifer and their six children are keeping those traditions alive through music. Guests will enjoy an energetic evening of fiddling, dancing and singing to welcome the holiday season.
