OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 22, 2010) - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will receive the credentials of five ambassadors on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Rideau Hall.

His Excellency Luis Carlos Delgado Murillo
Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Costa Rica
His Excellency Eleftherios Anghelopoulos
Ambassador-designate of the Hellenic Republic
Her Excellency Clemencia Forero Ucrós
Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Colombia
His Excellency Zhang Junsai
Ambassador-designate of the People's Republic of China
His Excellency Ilhomjon Nematov
Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Upon their arrival in Canada as new representatives of their country, and before they can assume office, high commissioners and ambassadors must present their credentials to the host country. Credentials are the formal documents by which new heads of diplomatic missions are introduced by their head of State, informing the governor general that they have been accredited and are authorized to represent their country in Canada. High commissioners representing countries, for which Queen Elizabeth II is not head of state, are introduced to the Government of Canada, rather than the governor general. Currently, there are more than 130 heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Canada.

Media wishing to cover the ceremony are asked to contact the Rideau Hall Press Office, and must arrive at the Princess Anne Entrance no later than 1:45 p.m.
