Media Advisory: Professionals Represented by PIPSC to Rally Today in Edmonton in Support of Public Services

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Sept. 27, 2013) - Starting at 1:00 p.m. on Friday September 27th, hundreds of federal employees represented by the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) will hold a rally in Edmonton in support of public services for Canadians. Over the past few years, and particularly since the 2012 federal budget, the public service has faced ongoing budget, program and staff cuts. In response, its professionals have been vigorously defending evidence-based decision-making, government science and a regulatory regime that protects Canadians' health, their environment and their collective economic prosperity.

The rally will start at 1:00 p.m.in front of Chateau Lacombe on Bellamy Hill, and protesters will walk toward the federal service center located on Jasper Street (between 97 St NW and 100 St NW).
