Media Advisory: PSAC Federal Budget Watch

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 29, 2012) - The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will be holding a budget watch in Toronto to evaluate the impacts of the anticipated cuts on the public and on the workers who deliver public services.

The event will enable workers from various departments to engage with each other, as they address the implications for themselves and their communities.

"The Harper government's threat to slash billions of dollars from public services is an absurd choice. Real choices don't put peoples' lives at risk and compromise their health and economic security," Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President - Ontario.

The event is open to the public and the media.

When: Thursday March 29, 2012 at 3:30pm
Where: 90 Eglinton Avenue East, Suite 608 (Boardroom)
Who: Marie Clarke Walker, CLC Executive Vice-President
Sid Ryan, President of the OFL
Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President
Janice Gairey, Coalition of Black Trade Unionists
Nicole Wall, Justicia for Migrant Workers
Garry Neil, Council of Canadians Regional Executive Director
Edward Lantz, Toronto ACORN Canada Board of Directors

PSAC is Canada's largest federal public sector union with over 180,000 members. PSAC is promoting a "Third Choice," one that includes a strong economy AND a healthy social system.
