Media Advisory-Putting a Face to the Canadian Obesity Epidemic

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 29, 2011) -

WHO: Edmonton and area editors/journalists covering the health beat on: childhood and adult obesity, weight bias and discrimination, living well, healthy lifestyle, weight loss, conditions related to obesity (diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, cancer, depression, etc.), obesity prevention and treatment, and more.

WHAT: Photo and interview opportunity: Picture-Perfect at Any Size.

The Canadian Obesity Network – Réseau canadien en obésité (CON-RCO) is hosting a photo shoot for "real-life" models from the greater Edmonton area towards the launch of a new stock image bank that will dismantle the negative and unflattering stereotypes placed on people living with excess weight. The images in the Picture-Perfect at Any Size photo gallery will be available for appropriate use by researchers, clinicians, industry, the public and media.

Several individuals living with excess weight, as well as their friends and families, will be available for interviews and photo opportunities for media.
