Media Advisory/PWGSC: Ongoing Public Consultation for the Naming of 401 Burrard

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 7, 2007) - The Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) continues to consult with the Canadian public for name suggestions for the Government of Canada building at 401 Burrard Street in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Canadians are invited to submit distinctive names of persons, places, or events of historical significance to Canada and the region. Submissions can be made on-line, by email, by fax, or mail until May 18, 2007.

This public consultation follows the decision of the Honourable Michael M Fortier, Minister of PWGSC, to rename the building.

A volunteer committee comprised of local community representatives will consider all suggestions and assess them based on their significance to Canada and the region. The committee will then create a shortlist of names, and submit a recommendation for the Minister's consideration.
