Media Advisory: Quartier Vanier Merchants Launch New Waste Collection, Cleanup and Beautification Program

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 14, 2009) - The Quartier Vanier will be launching its new "Clean Sweep Program" along McArthur Avenue at 11:45 AM on Friday May 15th, 2009.

100 Merchants are expected to take part in what will be the newest broom event of the year in Ottawa. In celebration of the arrival of spring, the environment and Quartier Vanier's (QV) new goals to be the most welcoming community in Ottawa, the merchants are "sweeping" out the old, and turning over a new leaf. This is the second year that the merchants association has initiated a street cleanup program in its commercial zone. Last year, the program debuted on Montreal Road and then Beechwood Avenue.

In addition to the symbolic sweep event, the QV will also be unveiling its new Street Pageantry and Waste Collection Program.

Guests are invited to join the merchants at the Vanier Community Police Centre, 252 McArthur Avenue where the launch will take place.

John Therien, President of the "QV" BIA and Board Directors, welcome Minister Madeleine Meilleur and other expected elected officials, to help kick-off this event.
