Media Advisory: "QV" Merchants Association Announce New Brooms and PumpkinFest Activities on Beechwood Avenue

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 16, 2008) - Beechwood Avenue Merchants, part of the Quartier Vanier Merchants Association, will be launching their new Brooms on Beechwood Program and PumpkinFest along the Avenue at 11:15 AM on Friday October 17th, 2008.

80 Merchants are expected to take part in this 'first' event marking a series of new initiatives on one of the city's most picturesque mainstreets. In celebration of the arrival of fall, the environment and Quartier Vanier's (QV) new goals to be the most welcoming community in Ottawa, the merchants are "sweeping" out the old, and turning over a new leaf.

An exciting new Beechwood PumpkinFest will also be launched - inviting all merchants to decorate their storefronts with a fall and/or Halloween theme and the public will be encouraged to judge the best window from October 27th to the 30th. It is also expected that QV President John Therien, will be announcing a large donation to the Vanier Community Service Centre.

Guests are invited to join the merchants at 50 Beechwood Avenue (Beechwood Loeb), where the launch will take place.

John Therien, President of the "QV" BIA and Board Directors, welcome Chief of Police Vern White along with City Councillor Georges Bédard and newly re-elected MP Mauril Bélanger to help kick-off this event.
