Media Advisory: Release of Flight Safety Investigation Report for Crash of Hornet CF188745 on August 16, 2005

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 10, 2007) - The final Flight Safety Investigation Report (FSIR) for the crash of Hornet CF188745 has been completed and will be posted on the Air Force Directorate of Flight Safety website today.

On August 16, 2005, Hornet CF188745 was engaged in a Basic Fighter Manoeuvres training mission over the Saguenay training area northeast of Bagotville, Quebec, when it departed controlled flight and entered a spin. The pilot was unable to regain control of the aircraft and ejected, sustaining minor injuries under a parachute landing. The aircraft was destroyed as a result of the impact and post-crash fire.
