Media Advisory Reminder: CMA Holds its 139th Annual Meeting in Charlottetown, PEI

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 16, 2006) - The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) will hold its 139th annual meeting (General Council) in Charlottetown, at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel, from August 20-23, 2006. This year's General Council theme is Securing the Health of Tomorrow - Today.

On Monday, the CMA will release its 6th annual National Report Card focusing on the performance of the country's health care system and the health of Canadian children.



Key features of the meeting are:

- Sunday: educational sessions addressing emerging health issues.

- Monday: an address by the Federal Health Minister, the Honourable
Tony Clement and a strategic session on children's health in
Canada.

- Tuesday: a strategic session titled It's about access on the
public-private interface in funding and delivery of health care.

- Wednesday: a session on emerging issues session and delegates'
motions.
