Media Advisory/REMINDER: Senator Andree Champagne Details Government of Canada's Response to Drought in East Africa

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 17, 2011) - On behalf of the Honourable Beverley J. Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, Senator Andrée Champagne will announce the details of Canada's recent $50 million commitment to drought-affected East Africa. Representatives from the Humanitarian Coalition will join Senator Champagne to promote the East Africa Drought Relief Fund announced by Minister Oda on July 22, in addition to the $50 million dollar commitment.

For every dollar individual Canadians contribute to registered Canadian charities responding to the East Africa drought, from July 6 until September 16, 2011, the Government of Canada will set aside one dollar for the Fund.
