Media Advisory: Rights Groups to Announce Action Against New Citizenship Law

THIS MORNING (Thursday) the BC Civil Liberties Association, the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers, and Amnesty International are hosting a telepress conference to announce action against the proposed new citizenship law, Bill C-24.

Bill C-24, introducing sweeping changes to Canada's citizenship laws, is now being considered by the Senate. In the view of these organizations, this proposed law has dramatically negative effects on Canadian citizenship, eliminating equal citizenship rights for all, is likely unconstitutional, and violates international human rights.
