Media Advisory: Rock for Public Services in Ottawa!

Free concert sponsored by CUPE 503 and CUPE Ontario to showcase rock legends

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 4, 2012) - Tom Cochrane and Red Rider will be rocking along with Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 503, representing staff with the City of Ottawa, at a free concert on October 6 at Scotiabank Place. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy what is shaping up to be a great evening of entertainment!

Already in its 5th edition, this year's Rock for Public Services concert promises to be the best one yet. The timing of the event could not come at a better time as Ontario's public service workers have come under attack following the introduction of legislation that threatens to take away free collective bargaining rights.

Concert-goers will have the opportunity to visit booths set up by various groups that will provide information for those interested. Don't miss this chance to see Canadian icons Tom Cochrane and Red Rider as they celebrate the efforts of public workers in the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

Donations to the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre will be accepted. Since 1993, the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre has helped Ottawa youth and their families overcome substance abuse issues and other related challenges to achieve a healthier lifestyle. It is Eastern Ontario's only non-profit, residential and community-based agency offering free programs for youth and families to grow in a supportive, safe and caring environment.

This year's concert will be held at Scotiabank Place - OC Transpo will be providing buses leaving from downtown Ottawa and will be returning concert-goers at the same location after the event. Those using public transportation should contact OC Transpo directly for more information.
