Media Advisory - Sally Pipes, of Pacific Research Institute, to speak on "Miracle Cure: How to Solve America's Health Care Crisis and Why Canada Isn't the Answer"

TORONTO, Jan. 28 - Sally Pipes, president and CEO of Pacific
Research Institute, will speak on Tuesday, February 1, at a Fraser Institute
event in Toronto, on "Miracle Cure: How to Solve America's Health Care Crisis
and Why Canada Isn't the Answer".
The US and Canada suffer from excessive government regulation, causing
both countries to sacrifice quality in their health care. Although myths
abound that Canada's health care system is an example of compassion and
universal access, research shows that Canada's rationing of care is a
disastrous model and should not be duplicated.
Pipes will discuss the issues plaguing the US health care system
including the uninsured, prescription drug costs, and seniors' health. She
will also discuss how individual controlled initiatives such as tax credits
and Health Savings Accounts could help both the Canadian and US health care
systems.
Prior to becoming president of the Pacific Research Institute in 1991,
Pipes was assistant director at The Fraser Institute. Her articles have
appeared in newspapers across North America and he is a frequent media
commentator. She is also the author of the recently released book, Miracle
Cure: How to Solve America's Health Care Crisis and Why Canada Isn't the
Answer.

Date: Tuesday, February 1, 2005

Time: 12:15 pm-1:30 pm (Pipes will speak from 12:15 pm-1:00 pm,
