Media Advisory: School Students See the "Shattered" Lives Caused by Impaired Driving

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 9, 2011) - Shattered, MADD Canada's powerful and dynamic School Assembly Program, is touring Newfoundland and Labrador to educate students about the very real dangers of impaired driving. The show's provincial tour will be making a stop in St. John's on May 11 and media are welcome to attend the presentation:

Date:Wednesday, May 11, 2011
Time:9:30 a.m.
Location:Bishops College, 190 Pennywell Rd, St. John's, NL
Special Guests:David Frew, Vice President – Human Resources, Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation;
Christine Care and Wayne Power, MADD Avalon Chapter Members;
Andrew Murie, MADD Canada Chief Executive Officer.

Members of the school staff and student body and special guests will be available to speak with media.

Young people never think a road crash will happen to them, but the numbers tell a different story. Road crashes are the number one cause of teen death in Canada and alcohol is a factor in 45% of those crashes. Shattered is part of MADD Canada's efforts to educate young people about the risks of impaired driving.

The special presentation at Bishops College is being presented by the Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation, which is sponsoring the presentation at 25 schools throughout the province.

With the continued support of all our generous sponsors around the country, Shattered, and its French counterpart En Éclats, will be seen by 1 million students nation-wide in 2010-2011.
