Media Advisory: Senators, City of Ottawa and Hockey Canada Foundation Begin Concrete Pour on Rink of Dreams

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 19, 2011) - The Ottawa Senators, in partnership with the Sens Foundation, the City of Ottawa and the Hockey Canada Foundation will move one step closer to the completion of the Rink of Dreams project with an initial concrete pour on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

What: The Rink of Dreams, located at Marion Dewar Plaza in front of Ottawa City Hall, is an outdoor refrigerated ice facility project which will serve as a community gathering place for both residents of the National Capital Region and its visitors, while operating annually from mid-November through the end of March. Following Tuesday's initial concrete pour, the outdoor rink will cure for 28 days to allow the slab to strengthen before ice installation. The rink remains on target to open prior to Ottawa's hosting of the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Weekend.

When and where: 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Marion Dewar Plaza, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue, Ottawa. The actual concrete pour will begin shortly after 7 a.m.

Photo and media opportunity: Participants will be available for media interviews to discuss the latest step in the rink's transformation. Photo opportunities of participants and the rink's current construction stage will also be available. While hard hats will be available, members of the media are encouraged to wear footware appropriate for a construction site to ensure access to the entire area.
