OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec. 13, 2013) - The Ottawa Senators will host a swab event in support of the OneMatch Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Network before and during the team's game against Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon.
Volunteers will be recruiting fans between the ages of 17 and 35 to swab the inside of their mouths in an effort to become an eventual OneMatch donor. The OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network is responsible for locating and matching volunteer donors to patients who are in need of stem cell transplants. Less than 30 percent of patients in need of a transplant find a compatible donor within their own family, thus the importance of swab events like this.
Who: Senators staff and OneMatch volunteers; Spartacat, the Senators' ambassador of fun.
When: Saturday, Dec. 13, beginning at noon.
Where: Canadian Tire Centre's Gate 1 entrance.
Photo opportunity: Photographers will have the opportunity to obtain images of fans participating in the swab event. Interviews with Senators staff members and OneMatch representatives will also be available.
