Media Advisory: Senators Sports & Entertainment issues advisory to fans on third-party tickets

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 30, 2011) - Following reports of fraudulent tickets being sold for Katy Perry's upcoming concert at Scotiabank Place on Sunday, July 3, Senators Sports & Entertainment is advising fans of the risks of purchasing through unauthorized third-party ticket vendors.

"We have had issues with both fraudulent and invalid tickets to the upcoming Katy Perry concert at Scotiabank Place being sold in our market," said Tom Gillis, general manager of Capital Tickets. "We strongly encourage fans to purchase all tickets through authorized vendors. Those who purchase tickets from third-party vendors are doing so at their own risk. Only those tickets purchased through authorized vendors are guaranteed seats."

For events at Scotiabank Place, including hockey games, concerts and shows, Capital Tickets is the lone authorized vendor of tickets.

"Tickets purchased outside of Capital Tickets cannot be guaranteed as valid until the bar codes are scanned on the night of the event," said Gillis. "In this case, the fraudulent ticket vendors have attempted to duplicate our ticket stock and it can be difficult to tell the difference with the naked eye."

For more information on tickets to events held at Scotiabank Place, please visit www.CapitalTickets.ca. Those persons who have purchased tickets and have questions on their validity are asked to call 613-599-3267.
