Media Advisory: Sens Foundation, Senators, City of Ottawa and Hockey Canada Foundation Officially Open Rink of Dreams

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 24, 2012) - The Sens Foundation, in partnership with the Ottawa Senators, the City of Ottawa and the Hockey Canada Foundation, will officially open the recently completed Rink of Dreams at Ottawa City Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

What: The Rink of Dreams, located at Marion Dewar Plaza in front of Ottawa City Hall, is an outdoor refrigerated ice surface which will serve as a community gathering place for both residents of the National Capital Region and its visitors, while operating annually from about mid-November through the end of March.

The Rink of Dreams opening will see members of the Senators organization, official dignitaries and volunteers join forces to light up the rink and conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony in advance of Ottawa's hosting of the 2012 NHL All-Star Weekend, which officially gets underway Thursday.

Who: Cyril Leeder, Ottawa Senators president; Jim Watson, mayor of the City of Ottawa; Danielle Robinson, Sens Foundation president; Claude Allain, vice-chair at large, Hockey Canada Foundation; various Ottawa city councillors and Spartacat, the Senators' ambassador of fun.

When and where: 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Marion Dewar Plaza, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue, Ottawa.

Photo and media opportunity: Participants will be available for brief media interviews to discuss the latest step in the rink's transformation. Photo opportunities of participants in front of the lit rink will also be available.
