On Saturday, October 18th, 2014, participating Source for Sports® stores across Canada invite you to be a part of the movement to raise funds and awareness for one of today's most critical sports issues: brain injuries. By bringing in your skates to be sharpened, you will be an ambassador of change and a part of keeping kids safe from brain injuries. Source for Sports® is committed to young athletes across Canada, which is why they have partnered with stopconcussions to raise the bar on awareness, and participating stores will be donating all money from skate sharpening done in-store that day to the not-for-profit.

This exciting event allows you to get ready for the hockey season and contribute to stopconcussions' goal, which is to keep kids and players of all ages in any sport safe from brain injuries. Source for Sports® fully supports the mandate of stopconcussions which is to educate coaches, trainers, players and parents how to "play with an edge" and be smart on the ice. Stopconcussions is a concussion/neurotrauma educational and awareness platform for all sports to address the growing trend of concussion in sports. It is an educational portal that players, parents, coaches, and officials can visit to seek information regarding concussions, with the goal of becoming more aware and ultimately safer individuals in their respective sports. Stopconcussions has developed sports-specific programs to help change the mindset of the sport not the game. Former Philadelphia Flyers captain, Keith Primeau and former European professional hockey player, Kerry Goulet officially launched stopconcussions in May of 2011. The goal of the organization is raise awareness of the impact of putting players, in any sport, back into the game too early.
