Media Advisory-Solidarity Rally at the Legislature to Support Tahltan Opposition to Fortune Minerals

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Aug. 30, 2013) - Attention News Editors

Media are invited to a solidarity rally in support of the Tahltan people and their struggle against Fortune Minerals' plans to build a 44-square kilometre open-pit coal mine on Mount Klappan in the Sacred Headwaters of Northern British Columbia.

Mount Klappan and the surrounding area are held sacred by the Tahltan people.

Currently, the Tahltan have a protest camp in the Sacred Headwaters, and a group of Elders recently served an eviction notice to Fortune Minerals, informing the company that it was trespassing on Tahltan territory. So far, the company has refused to leave.

Participants of the gathering can sign a petition, and speakers from the area will be on hand to share the latest updates on what's happening in the Sacred Headwaters.

What: Speakers and strong visuals for the ongoing Tahltan / Fortune Minerals story (posters and banners)

When: Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.

Where: In front of the legislature in Victoria.
