Media Advisory: Stay Safe, Drive Sober, MADD Canada and Gino's Pizza Urge Grads and Prom-Goers

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 25, 2012) - Soccer balls and t-shirt giveaways will grab the attention of students at Monsignor Percy Johnson Catholic High School on May 29 but it will be the stark consequences of impaired driving that stay with them, as MADD Canada and Gino's Pizza team up to urge young people to stay safe and drive sober this prom and graduation season.

To highlight the importance of sober driving during prom and grad season, MADD Canada and Gino's Pizza are delivering Damages, the 2011-2012 School Assembly Program to a Toronto high school:

Date & Time: Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 9 a.m.
Location: Monsignor Percy Johnson Catholic High School, 2170 Kipling Ave., Rexdale, ON
Special Guests: Carolyn Swinson, Past Chair, National Board of Directors, MADD Canada
Rocco Giovannoelli, Operations Manager, Gino's Pizza
Sonia Gangar, Director of Marketing, Gino's Pizza

Special guests, as well as members of the school staff and student body, will be available for interviews.

Damages takes students into the courtroom to meet Jesse, a young man whose bright future and plans for university are put on hold as he goes on trial on charges of impaired driving causing death. The program transitions from Jesse's fictional story to the real world impact of impaired driving through powerful and emotional testimonials from actual victims of this violent crime.

MADD Canada's School Assembly Program tackles the problem of impaired driving among the age group which is most at risk. Road crashes are the number one cause of death among young people in Canada and alcohol is a factor in about 50% of those crashes. Shown on a giant screen with a powerful sound system, the program presents students with solid information and best practices to help them understand the issue of alcohol and/or drug impaired driving. This year, MADD Canada is pleased to offer the first fully separate French production of the show, Dommages. Nation-wide, Damages and Dommages will be delivered to more than 1 million students in Grades 7 - 12 this school year.
