Media Advisory: Striking University of Toronto and York University Academic Workers to Hold Several Solidarity Events This Week

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 17, 2015) - Striking University of Toronto and York University academic workers to hold several solidarity events this week Toronto, ONT-Striking University of Toronto and York University education workers, members of Locals 3902 and 3903 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), are holding several events this week to raise public awareness of continuing poverty-level funding and precarious employment at Ontario's universities.

The following events are tentatively scheduled to take place the week of March 16-22:

March 18: University of Toronto Undergraduate Walk-out Day.

Location: U of T St. George Campus, Rally at Simcoe Hall

Time: 12 Noon to 2 p.m.

March 19: University of Toronto Scarborough Campus Day of Action

Location: U of T Scarborough Campus, Intersection of Ellesmere Rd and Military Trail

Time: 7 am until 4:30 p.m. and beyond

March 21: Joint CUPE 3902/3903 Solidarity Rally

Location: Yonge-Dundas Square

Time: 1 p.m., March to follow at 1:30 p.m.
