Media Advisory: Student Wins Senators Holiday Greeting Card Contest

Presentation to winner to take place Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 11:30 a.m.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 28, 2006) - For the third consecutive year, the Ottawa Senators have put a call out to young artists in schools participating in the Sens @ School literacy programs to design the club's Holiday greeting card.

On Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 11:30 a.m., the Ottawa Senators' ambassador of fun, Spartacat, will present four 100-level tickets to the club's Dec. 9 game vs. the New York Rangers to Barrhaven Public School Grade 5 student Lydia Callies - this year's winner of the Senators Holiday greeting card contest. Lydia's winning card was selected from hundreds of entries submitted by Grade 4 and 5 students involved in the Sens @ School programs.

There are currently 328 classes registered in the Scotiabank Read to Succeed program and 346 classes registered in the Spelling with Spezza programs. There are also 27 schools registered as Sens schools.

In lieu of cards, the Senators, Ottawa Senators Foundation, Scotiabank Place, Capital Tickets and Bell Sensplex will make a charitable donation to The Snowsuit Fund and Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa (CAYFO). The Holiday greeting will be designed into an e-mail greeting and also print ads in local papers.
