NOTE TO EDITORS: A complete Horizon Blimp flight path is available upon request.

Today, Saskatchewan hosted the departure of Canada's longest blimp journey ever recorded. The Syngenta Horizon Blimp lifted off from Kindersley, SK to travel across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, kicking off the 2007 wheat cropping season. In recognition of the dedication of growers, their passion and pride in the land and their hard work during this time of year, aerial photographs of select farming operations will be taken from the soaring blimp and awarded to growers throughout the three-month journey.

According to one of North America's leading experts, the Horizon Blimp will cover more distance than any other of its kind in Canadian history. Touching down in 30 farming communities, the Horizon Blimp will travel across one million acres of farmland over the next 90 days.

"Syngenta recognizes growers' hard work and dedication during this important time of year. We also have a deep understanding of the pride they feel towards their crops and land. With the Horizon Blimp, Syngenta is presenting growers with the opportunity to obtain an aerial photograph of their land-a perfect way of showcasing the fruits of their labour and the effectiveness of Horizon on their flourishing wheat crops," comments Jason Pickering, Crop Manager (Cereals), Syngenta Crop Protection Canada, Inc.

Horizon is the most trusted herbicide used on wheat crops across Western Canada, offering the most superior control of wild oats. According to a Stratus Agri-Marketing survey in 2006, Horizon was used on more wheat acres across the Prairies than any other wheat grass herbicide.

Syngenta is a world-leading agribusiness committed to sustainable agriculture through innovative research and technology. The company is a leader in crop protection, and ranks third in the high-value commercial seeds market. Sales in 2006 were approximately $8.1 billion. Syngenta employs around 19,500 people in over 90 countries. Syngenta is listed on the Swiss stock exchange (SYNN) and in New York (SYT). Further information is available at
