Media Advisory: The Canadian Forces Bid Farewell to the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 27, 2010) - Media representatives are invited to the Canadian Forces' farewell ceremony with a 250-member strong military parade for Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Canadian War Museum, 1 Vimy Place, Ottawa. 

This event will allow the Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Peter MacKay and the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Walt Natynczyk, and members of the Canadian Forces and their families to bid farewell to the Commander-in-Chief and to thank her for her unwavering support over the past five years. 

The Governor General will deliver a speech to recognize the contributions of the men and women in uniform one last time as their Commander-in-Chief.

Media representatives are required to arrive no later than 12:15 p.m. to set up. The ceremony should conclude around 2 p.m. Please advise if you require parking and if you are covering the event using a satellite truck.
