Media Advisory: The Ceremonial Guard to Perform Final Parade of 2013 Season


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 21, 2013) - The Ceremonial Guard will perform the final Changing of the Guard ceremony at Parliament Hill on Saturday August 24, at 10 a.m. This will be one of the Guard's largest parades of the 2013 season, consisting of over 400 soldiers and musicians. At approximately 10:40 a.m. the parade will leave Parliament Hill for the last time this year, stopping at the National War Memorial for the final relief of the sentries, marking an end to another successful Public Duties season.

Where: East and West Lawn, Parliament Hill
Date: Saturday, August 24, 2013
Time: 10 a.m.

The Ceremonial Guard is a unit in the Canadian Armed Forces which performs a variety of public duties and concerts in Ottawa between late June and the end of August. They also perform sentry duties at Rideau Hall and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial.

The final day to see the sentries at Rideau Hall will be August 23, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
