Media Advisory: Their Excellencies to Celebrate International Volunteer Day with Giving Moments

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec. 4, 2013) - Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will participate in a variety of activities to highlight International Volunteer Day on December 5, 2013. Their Excellencies will start the day by volunteering at La grande guignolée des médias, in Gatineau, Quebec.

International Volunteer Day celebrates individuals and organizations who are giving back to society through citizen leadership and volunteerism, which are themes at the heart of My Giving Moment, a multimedia campaign launched in early November. Inspired by His Excellency, My Giving Moment is part of an ongoing effort to promote giving among Canadians and build a smarter, more caring nation.

As part of this campaign, Their Excellencies see International Volunteer Day and the holiday season as perfect occasions for people across Canada to discover their own giving moment. Just as volunteers around the world demonstrate every day: it only takes a moment to discover what you have to give.

Below is Their Excellencies' detailed itinerary for the day:
