Media Advisory: Toast Public Water This World Water Day, Says NS Coalition

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - March 18, 2009) -

What: The coalition to 'Turn on the Taps and Ditch the Bottle' is toasting public water and delivering a large 'bottled water tower', constructed of bottles found in the garbage at municipal facilities, to Councillor Dawn Sloane.

Who: The following individuals will be attending the toast to public water and will be available for interviews: HRM Councillor Dawn Sloane on behalf of Mayor Kelly, Angela Giles of the Council of Canadians, Jocelyne Rankin of the Ecology Action Centre. Other councillors, coalition members and members of the public will also be in attendance.

When & Where: 11 a.m., Friday March 20th in the Parade Square, Halifax, Regional Municipality City Hall.

Why: To celebrate World Water Day (March 22nd) and our access to clean public water!

The coalition to 'Turn on the Taps and Ditch the Bottle' is made up of Kairos Halifax, Ecology Action Centre, CUPE Nova Scotia, The Council of Canadians, Oxfam Canada: Maritimes, Polaris Institute, Nova Scotia Environmental Network, Canadian Federation of Students, Hydro Heroes, and Sierra Youth Coalition.
