Media Advisory: Toronto Board of Trade Releases First-Ever Benchmarking Report on Global Urban Prosperity

Report takes a reliable measure of Toronto's place in the world; ranks Toronto in relation to global competitors and compares city centre's performance with its surrounding region

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 2, 2009) -

Attention: City Assignment & News Editors

WHAT: The release of the Toronto Board of Trade's first annual
benchmarking report: Toronto as a Global City: Scorecard on
Prosperity. The report compiles municipal data on 25 specific
indicators for the Toronto region and 20 other metropolitan areas.
The Board of Trade report commissioned the Conference Board of
Canada to conduct the research and produce the report.

The results are reliable and compelling.

The Scorecard on Prosperity is unique among city indices for its
breadth of inquiry, measuring both social and economic indicators
across a global sampling of cities.

It is also the first comprehensive benchmarking report to break
down results within the greater Toronto area, contrasting the city
centre with its surrounding region.

WHY: The Scorecard on Prosperity provides an evidence-based foundation
upon which to formulate new policies. The report will be used to
track the progress of the Toronto region over time to see whether
specific policy measures, such as those contained in recent
government budgets, produce their intended results.
