Media Advisory: TTC Adjusts Subway Service During Weekend Construction

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 22, 2007) - Due to extensive tunnel repairs on the Bloor-Danforth subway line near St. George Station, the TTC will be re-routing trains on twelve consecutive Saturdays and Sundays, including this weekend, Saturday February 24 and Sunday, February 25.

The work involves the demolition of the existing tunnel roof at the point where the subway passes near Avenue Road and Bloor Street. Special demolition equipment will be used in the tunnel.

A revised service will be operated to minimize the inconvenience to customers and maintain as much of the normal subway service as possible.

Saturday and Sunday service on the Bloor-Danforth subway will be split into two separate services, and will be extended onto the University subway to terminate at Museum Station. Service will be provided between Kipling Station and Museum Station and between Kennedy Station and Museum Station. TTC customers making a through-journey on the Bloor-Danforth subway will have to transfer at Museum Station. TTC staff will be on hand to assist customers.

Bay Station will be closed. Customers should use Bloor-Yonge, Museum or St. George stations instead.

The lower level of St. George Station will be closed, and all trains will serve the upper level of the station.
