Media Advisory: TTC Service Update

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 23, 2007) - Following this morning's industrial accident (which claimed the life of a TTC employee, and injured two others) there is still no subway service in both directions between Eglinton and York Mills stations. More than 80 shuttle buses are being used during the afternoon rush hour period to transport customers between Eglinton and York Mills.

Toronto Police Service has officers positioned between Eglinton and York Mills to help facilitate the bus shuttle service.

TTC work crews are preparing to remove the wreckage from the tunnel. Following this removal, an assessment of the tunnel will take place and a decision will be made regarding the restoration of full service.

If service is restored later today, the news media will be advised by way of a news release. If service is not restored today, an update will be issued tomorrow morning at 5 a.m.
