Media Advisory: TTC Service Update

York Mills to Eglinton Subway Operating

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 24, 2007) - Full subway service will begin as scheduled at 6 this morning on the Yonge Subway. Trains will operate from York Mills Station to Eglinton Station, over the section of track closed all day Monday due to an industrial accident that killed one TTC employee and injured two others.

TTC crews worked throughout yesterday afternoon and overnight to remove the wreckage of three workcars from the tunnel south of Lawrence Station. The workcars had been carrying an eleven-member asbestos removal crew out of the tunnel at the end of their shift when a large piece of equipment on the lead car dislodged and struck the driver at the front of the second car, killing him. Two other employees were injured.
