Media Advisory: UCMAS Hosts the Largest Mental Math & Abacus Competition in Canada

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 18, 2013) - UCMAS Canada Inc. announces its 8th Annual UCMAS Mental Math & Abacus Competition, the largest of its kind in Canada with 1,950 UCMAS students aged 4 to 13 competing.

The competition provides a forum for the UCMAS students to display their mental acuity and prowess thanks to the capabilities they develop in the UCMAS program in areas such as memory, concentration, visualization and multi-tasking.
During the competition which lasts only 8 minutes, the UCMAS students solve 100-200 arithmetic questions, using only their abacus or mental math.

The UCMAS students' achievements in the competition will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony, where 600 prizes will be presented to the top students across each UCMAS level. All the champions will be invited to participate at the International UCMAS Competition in Malaysia later this year.

The UCMAS program helps boost brainpower by teaching kids to perform mental math using the abacus in a way that children find engaging and instructive.
