Media Advisory: Unique Underwater Training for Astronauts

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 30, 2010) - Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Chris Hadfield and NASA astronaut Stan Love will be at the Centre for Aquaculture and Environmental Research on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. 

Astronauts will be training to qualify as pilots with the Pavilion Lake Research Project for a series of deep-diving submersibles called 'DeepWorkers'. DeepWorker submersibles are built and owned by Nuytco Research Ltd. based in North Vancouver. This training is in connection with an on-going research programme at Pavilion Lake, in British Columbia, where the underwater scientific operations provide a learning opportunity for understanding how to work in hostile and challenging environments.
