Media Advisory/VAC: Local Victoria Cross Winners Honoured

ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 3, 2006) - Member of Parliament Rick Dykstra, representing the Minister of Veterans Affairs, will be attending and speaking at the Opening Ceremony of a Victoria Cross Display at the St. Catharines Museum.

As part of Veterans' Week events, the Museum will display the Victoria Crosses awarded to St. Catharines residents, Colonel Graham Thompson Lyall and Lance Corporal Fred Fisher, the first Canadian-born soldier to receive the VC in the First World War.

Also in attendance at the Opening Ceremony will be Veterans, students, cadets, historical association members and members of the community.
