Calgary's Mayoral Candidates to Address and Debate Important Issues Regarding Housing and Development in Calgary

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 22, 2010) -

WHAT:, on behalf of The Canadian Home Builder's Association– Calgary Region (CHBA - Calgary) and the Urban Development Institute Calgary (UDI - Calgary), will be hosting a mayoral panel on September 28th, in anticipation of Calgary's municipal election on October 18th. CHBA - Calgary and UDI - Calgary launched, a hub for up-to-date election news, almost three months ago and have been leveraging the website to provide pertinent election information to the over 28,000 Calgarians who work in the housing and development industry. The mayoral panel will focus on issues regarding housing and development in Calgary that are of key importance to the industry and to this City as a whole. This event is open to the public. Tickets were made available last week at and registration closes today
WHEN: Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m
  11 a.m. – Registration Opens
  11 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Candidate Tradeshow
  12 p.m. to 12:40 p.m. – Luncheon
  12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. – Mayoral Panel

WHO: Ken King, President and CEO of the Calgary Flames, will serve as the panel's moderator
To participate, candidates were required to complete a survey. Confirmed participating mayoral candidates include:
  • Craig Burrows;
  • Joe Connelly;
  • Bob Hawkesworth;
  • Barb Higgins;
  • Jon Lord;
  • Ric McIver;
  • Naheed Nenshi; and
  • Wayne Stewart.

Approximately 30 aldermanic candidates will also be participating in the candidate tradeshow and will be in attendance at the event.

**Please note that candidates will be available for interviews and photo opportunities during the tradeshow and immediately following the panel.
