Media Advisory: Welcome Hall Mission to Hold Noel Pour Tous Event-Food, Toys and a Big Celebration for Underprivileged Families

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec. 4, 2015) - To bring joy to the lives of children who have to deal with the reality of poverty on a daily basis, Welcome Hall Mission will host its annual Noël pour tous event on December 5th. During this big celebration, children will be able to get their faces painted, watch the amazing balloon sculptors - and above all, get a gift from Santa himself! This beautiful day held in the spirit of the holiday season will be accompanied by the music of the Montreal Gospel Choir.

"Since one third of our food bank clientele is composed of children, we thought it was important to add something special to our Christmas baskets at this time of year, explained Cyril Morgan, CEO of Welcome Hall Mission. Thus, in addition to food, 10,000 gifts and toys will be distributed to needy children in the coming weeks."

During this special day, families can also benefit from a 50% discount on all items at Welcome Hall Mission's La Boutique. In addition to offering new and used fashionable quality clothing, La Boutique is a training environment that employs participants from the Education and Employability program.

In the weeks following the event, and to help the poorest families in Montreal spend a beautiful holiday season, the Welcome Hall Mission team will provide the equivalent of 2,000 Christmas baskets. The distribution will take place on December 16, 17, 18, 21, 22 and 23. In the meantime, you can visit WelcomeHallMission.com to contribute and help those in great need.

Welcome Hall Mission wants to thank Ardene, Cafe Southside, VountEARS Disney, Hasbro, Ilot 307, Toys for Kids, Mega Brands and Pro-Fêtes for their generous contribution of toys that will make Noël pour tous a magical event.

A major food bank in the region

By opening its doors to more than 4,000 families each month, Welcome Hall Mission is the largest direct-to-the-public food bank in Montreal. During their visit, people can browse the aisles and choose to put the food they really need in their basket. Last year, the organization distributed 777,300 kilograms of food from public donations, negotiated agreements with food suppliers and Moisson Montréal. Through these agreements, for every dollar received as a donation, Welcome Hall Mission can deliver goods worth five to six dollars to the visitors to its food bank. Moreover, to facilitate the collection of data, Welcome Hall Mission food bank uses a data management system called Homeless Individuals and Family Information System (HIFIS), a component of the federal government's Homelessness Partnering Strategy. A total of fifteen employees and thirty volunteers work each week at the food bank.
