Media Advisory: Welcome Hall Mission Unveils its New Colors!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 19, 2008) - You are cordially invited to the Inauguration of Welcome Hall Mission's 94,000sq ft Multiservice Center. This event will also provide an opportunity to unveil the Mission's new image. An official tour of the premises, including the Inauguration of the "Hockey for the Homeless Gym", will complete the evening's program.

Anthony Calvillo, quarterback for the Montreal Alouettes has been actively involved with the Mission for many years and will be the Mission's spokesperson. The guests of honour of this event will be the assistant Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services, Mrs. Marie-Josee Guerette as well as Mrs. Marie-Andree Beaudoin, the Mayor of Ahunstic-Cartierville who is also responsible for the Social and Community Development of Montreal's Executive Committee. Madame Jacqueline Montpetit, Mayor of the South-West Borough and Monsieur Thierry St-Cyr, Federal MP of the Jeanne-Le-Ber riding were also invited as special guests.

The guests of honour of the event have been invited to address the issue of poverty and homelessness in Montreal. In 2007, there were more than 29,000 homeless people in Montreal. In addition, there were 110,000 persons; of which 33,000 are children; who resorted to a food bank to meet their needs. Welcome Hall Mission's food bank provides food to more than 7,000 families each month, and its shelter offers a bed and shower to 185 homeless men.

Well known as one of the three large shelters for the homeless in Montreal, Welcome Hall Mission has broadened its scope. It is now a key player in the fight against poverty, in partnership with community agencies and organisations, corporations and governmental institutions who desire to see the Quebec society become a leader in the fight against poverty and homelessness in Canada. It is indeed thanks to these partnerships that the Mission was able to acquire and renovate the Multiservice Center that today houses seven of its nine departments, including the Welcome Hall Residences, a rehabilitation center for men suffering from various dependencies.

In addition to the guests of honour, many other local personalities from the political and business fields, as well as representatives of different community organizations of Montreal are expected. They will come to salute and encourage the concrete actions taken by Welcome Hall Mission, especially in the field of social economy and lasting development.

We are expecting a great turnout! Snacks will be served.
