Media Advisory: WWF-Canada and City of Toronto to Host Free Earth Hour Celebration Concert

March 28, 7 - 9:30 p.m., Nathan Phillips Square

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 17, 2009) - On Saturday March 28, Torontonians can gather to celebrate Earth Hour and demonstrate their support for action on climate change at a free concert at Nathan Phillips Square. Presented by WWF-Canada (World Wildlife Fund) and the City of Toronto, the family-oriented, all-ages concert will feature Suzie McNeil, Crash Parallel, The Matt York Band, and Samba Squad.

"Earth Hour is about demonstrating that we want real action on climate change. Already more than 1,400 cities in 80 countries are signed up to participate in Earth Hour including hundreds of Canadian cities and thousands of individual Canadians," says Gerald Butts, President and CEO, WWF-Canada. "This concert is a great place to celebrate together and show your support."

"Last year, Torontonians joined the Earth Hour movement and took action both in their homes and by coming out to Nathan Phillips Square to celebrate this historic event," said Mayor Miller. "Once again, our community celebration will feature some of Toronto's most talented musicians. I encourage everyone to plan their Earth Hour events and, if possible, join us under the stars at City Hall."
