Media Advisory: Yarmouth refugee committee to speak to CUPE Nova Scotia convention

YARMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - April 26, 2016) - Dr. Abir Hussein from the Yarmouth Refugee Committee (YRC) will address delegates to the CUPE Nova Scotia convention in Yarmouth today.

Hussein is a physician who immigrated to Canada from Egypt in 2009, and has had a family practice in Yarmouth since 2011. She is the mother of four girls.

The YRC recently sponsored a Syrian refugee family who have settled in Yarmouth. Last year, they succeeded in collecting $11,000 and were able to sponsor a Syrian family of four. They arrived safely to Yarmouth in december 2015.
